Big news in New Zealand was the unveiling of Flossie.com, a portal style 'masthead' site, targeting New Zealand women.

The eagerly awaited, beta version of Google Chrome was launched this month. The open source browser is a rival to Internet Explorer and Firefox, the world's most popular Web browsers. Flossie.com Launches New Site

Flossie.com launched its new style portal Web site this month. The Flossie.com site links a network of female centric sites and is targeted at New Zealand women aged 18-55. Viewers have access to over 500 articles covering areas such as fashion, health and parenting.

The Flossie.com Web site is the masthead site for a network of New Zealand sites including Fresh in the Kitchen, Kiwi Families, NZ Bride, NZ Girl and Thread.

The Web site is one of the first 'masthead network' models to be used in the Asia Pacific. The model has had enormous success in the US with Glam.com. The site links more than 400 Web sites and according to Flossie Media Group, reaches 77 million women every month and is now the biggest way to reach women in the US.

We'll be seeing a lot more Web sites like this in New Zealand, as media giant APN and fabulous.co.nz look set to launch their versions in the near future.
