Are you an experienced Web programmer looking for a diverse contract role?

Avatar is a successful Web design, development and marketing company that has been operating since 1998. We are looking for a programmer, with at least three years' commercial experience, to join our team to work within a Linux-based Web hosting environment.

The successful candidate will work on projects for Avatar and Avatar's wide client base.  The role requires excellent attention to detail, good organisational skills and enthusiasm to tackle fresh challenges. We are looking for someone with an impressive development portfolio that features a variety of projects, demonstrating an all round Linux environment programming ability. If you want to work within a great team and are looking for rewarding and diverse work, then this could be the job for you.

Role Description

• Wide variety of client and internal Web development projects
• Around 16 hours per week, depending on work flow and your availability
• $30 to $40 per hour depending on experience
• Person must be based in Christchurch

Skills Required

• A minimum of 3 years' commercial programming experience
• Extensive portfolio of previous Web programming work required
• Excellent Web programming skills with extensive knowledge of Linux environment programming tools such as PHP, MySQL and Apache (JavaScript and/or Sys Admin skills would be an advantage)
• Excellent understanding of Web design and CMS (such as WordPress and Joomla)
• Excellent project management skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service skills
• Excellent English and grammar skills
