Christchurch earthquake and avatar hq

Monday, September 6th, 2010

As most of you will know, Christchurch was hit by an intense 7.1 magnitude earthquake in the early hours of Saturday morning. Luckily all the Avatar team survived the earthquake unharmed, but Avatar HQ wasn’t quite so fortunate (view Avatar office video clip). There is extensive water damage due to leaking fire sprinkler pipes and fittings, so we lost a lot of equipment and we can’t return to the building for some time. Our web hosting servers are located offsite and thankfully they kept operating with no client outages.

Our team is currently working from various locations around Christchurch and we hope to find a temporary central HQ in the next few weeks.  Meanwhile, do get in touch if you have an enquiry for Avatar.
