It’s been a little busy here at Avatar HQ, February was one of the few times we haven’t managed to get a monthly newsletter out. To make up for it, we have worked on a design revamp to make our newsletters more user-friendly for people reading emails on mobile devices.
Our main feature article is about an interesting Google Maps add-on, our value pick is about upselling online and we have the usual assortment of other goodies.
“See Inside” With Google Maps Street View
Allowing online viewers to get a glimpse inside your business premises can work particularly well for shops, restaurants, bars or if you have something interesting to show. As an example, if you go to www.google.co.nz and search a super cool keyword term such as “avatar christchurch”, then you’ll see a screenshot like the one on the right comes up. You can then click on “See inside” which will take you into Google Maps Street view… where you can walk people through selected parts of your premises.
It can add a nice customised approach that gives you the opportunity to virtually show people around and make a bit more of a connection. Let us know if you’d like help setting this up and we’ll put you in touch with a Google authorised photographer, then they’ll come out to you with their 3D photography gear.
Top Value Pick
Upselling Online. Once someone has ordered from your website, there’s a great opportunity to present another offer. You have a fully engaged customer, so it’s the perfect time for you to make them a compelling pitch they can’t refuse. Air New Zealand’s ‘make an offer on a seat upgrade’ exemplifies how it should be done.
Google Ads Missing On The Right. You may have noticed that the Google search results page changed a few weeks ago. If you are currently advertising with Google AdWords, then it has major implications. Here’s a good summary.
Web Design Card Layouts. A common website trend is where cards arrange information as easily digestible portions, avoiding confusion and increasing readability. View some nice examples here.
One For Star Wars Geeks. If you like Star Wars, then you should check this out. Listening to ‘The Imperial March’ in a major key is like tapping into Darth Vader’s happy side.
Remove Plastics From Our Oceans. This solar-powered vacuum could suck up 24,000 tons of ocean plastic every year, great to see a tangible solution to this major issue.
Super-Intelligent Humans Are Coming. Would you take a pill to improve your brain power, like the ‘Limitless’ film / TV show? Here’s an interesting post on how technology will make us smarter.
Etico(Web Design) Beautiful and useful pieces for your home and for your life.
Oasis Greenery Systems(Web Design & Marketing) Plant hire solutions for Auckland, Christchurch and around New Zealand. A unique range of living walls, green roofs and plant solutions for urban environments.
