Greetings All!

We’ve been taking a look at some useful WordPress Plugins for business recently, so that’s our main newsletter topic for you this month. We also have a range of diverse tidbits to peruse and we round proceedings off with a few sites we’ve launched in May. Happy reading!

Top WordPress Plugins For Businesses

One of the best things about WordPress-based sites is the ease with which new plugins can be added and used. Plugins are a range of tools that add new functionality and convenience to your website, and many are available free of cost. They can be added through the WordPress interface, or by downloading and installing manually. If your business relies on a website, here are some plugins that you can’t afford to miss.

  • Google Analyticator – Google Analytics is the easiest and most comprehensive way of monitoring your web traffic, and this plugin integrates it directly into your WordPress site. With this, you can monitor traffic numbers from your Dashboard, including statistics on downloads and other non-pageview events such as video plays.
  • Google XML Sitemap – If your website frequently produces new content such as blog posts, videos, company updates and more, this plugin is a great asset. It helps the major search engines index your content quicker, meaning it will be available in search results soon after it’s posted.
  • Pretty Link – Social media is becoming an increasingly crucial marketing tool, and one of its key points is brevity. Long, cumbersome links will be skipped by readers, so it’s useful to have short, descriptive URLs. Pretty Link allows you to create a custom link to any of your pages, using your domain name as the base.
  • WPTouch – The touch screen and mobile market is now huge. Smartphones and tablets are sold worldwide, and it’s becoming the norm to have a pocket device that can surf the web. Not all businesses necessarily need to target this demographic, but if you think yours would benefit from it, the WPTouch app provides a simple solution without major investment in a site design.
  • All-in-one SEO Pack – For those who don’t have the resources to invest in full-fledged SEO, this all-inclusive pack helps you get a boost in the search engines without major effort. Each time you make a post or page, simply insert the targeted keywords and a suitable META description and page title. Little, careful adjustments across your site is all it takes for basic SEO coverage.
  • MapPress Easy Google Maps – If you operate a local business that depends on foot traffic, it’s essential that customers can find you quickly and easily. If they aren’t sure of your location, they’ll look elsewhere. The MapPress plugin puts a bite-sized Google Maps diagram into your site, and you can mark your premises so people know exactly where to go.
  • Contact Form 7 – Contact forms are a great way of capitalising on the active traffic coming through your site to gather enquiries, interest and bookings. This plugin allows you to manage and customise multiple contact forms, and supports CAPTCHA and anti-spam filtering.
  • NextGEN Gallery – If photos and images are a big part of your business, the NextGEN Gallery provides an easy way of managing and displaying them. It provides a range of viewing options such as a slideshow or thumbnails, and files can be watermarked as they’re uploaded. There’s also RSS functionality, so if you’re regularly updating your gallery, it’s a great way to share it.

Adding WordPress plugins to your site is a simple way to improve its functionality and gain new ways to engage potential customers. They can be managed easily through the WordPress interface, and customised to meet your site’s particular need. You can browse more WordPress plugins at the directory, or sort by most popular to find the ones that are tried and true. Think about what functions and extras customers would benefit from the most, and utilise plugins to enhance your business.
